“Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days." John 2:19
From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.
“For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” Matthew 12:40
“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,” 1 Corinthians 5:3-4
“And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.” 1 Corinthians 15:14
“More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised.” 1 Corinthians 15:15
“And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.” 1 Corinthians. 15:17
“….in that case, all Christians who have died are lost!”
1 Corinthians 15:18
2. WHY DOES THE RESURRECTION MATTER?
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,” Romans 8:1
“I pray that you will begin to understand how incredibly great his power is to help those who believe him. It is that same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God's right hand in heaven.” Ephesians 1:19-20
“And this is the way to have eternal life--by knowing you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth!”
