QUESTION: HOW DO I KNOW MY FAITH IS REAL?

  1. REAL FAITH IS…

  • MORE THAN just _______________ i say

“What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?”  James 2:14 (NLT)

JESUS: “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter.”  Matthew 7:21 (NLT)

  • MORE THAN AN ___________________ I FEEL

Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, ‘Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well’—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.”

James 2:15-17 (NLT)

  • MORE THAN AN _______________ I DEBATE

“Now someone may argue, ‘Some people have faith; others have good deeds.’ But I say, ‘How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds?’ I will show you my faith by my good deeds.” James 2:18 (NLT)

  • MORE THAN A_____________           ___ I BELIEVE

“You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?”  James 2:19-20 (NLT)

  1. REAL FAITH IS ______________________ I DO!

“Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.”  James 2:26 (NLT)

“Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love.”  1 Corinthians 16:13-14 (NLT)

REAL FAITH DISPLAYED - 2 Examples:

  1. ABRAHAM FOLLOWED GOD __________ KNOWING WHERE HE WAS GOING

“You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete.’”  James 2:22 (NLT)

“...And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: ‘Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.’ He was even called the friend of God.’”  James 2:23 (NLT)

  1. Rahab RISKED HER LIFE TO _______________ OTHERS

James 2:25-26 & Joshua 2

Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.” 2 Corinthians 13:5 (NLT)

“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

   Ephesians 2:8-10 (NLT)
