Where Does Hope Really Begin? 03/15/26

This message from Mark 1:1–11 reminds us that true hope does not begin with better advice, greater effort, or more religious pressure, but with the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Mark opens by showing that Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s long-promised plan, announced through John the Baptist’s call to repentance and revealed in Jesus’ baptism. In this passage, Jesus steps into our place, identifies with sinners, and is affirmed by the Father as the beloved Son. The hope of the gospel is that Jesus meets us with grace, calls us to honest repentance, fills us with the Spirit, and offers us the approval we could never earn on our own.
